New classes start Saturdays, October 10 – November 14th. $TBD for the class and $18 to rent skates for the session, if needed. Rent Skates Here
Saturday class schedule will be as follows:
- Basic Skills Classes – Saturday late morning
- Intro to Skating Classes – Saturday late morning.
Practice (enrolled and current classes skaters only) – times are TBD (parents or family members that would like to skate during practice time with skaters, would need to have a Tacoma Learn to Skate Membership. This can be purchase here. Sign in or create an account, select “buy a registration”, click “learn to skate”, then select package)
Snowplow Sam 1-4
This is where it all begins! New skaters as young as 3 years old begin their lessons off the ice learning how to tie their skates, falling down, standing up, and marching in place. They then move onto the ice to put their new skills into practice
Basic 1-6
Designed to build a strong foundation of basic skating. Program for beginners, children (age 5+). Skaters will receive Basic Skills instruction following Learn to Skate USA curriculum which is endorsed by U.S. Figure Skating and USA Hockey.
Bridge
Fast paced, accelerated program, focusing on proper stretching techniques, warm up and cool down both on and off the ice, stroking, edges and power skating, introductory moves in the field, spins, jumps, and Artistry in Motion (beginning choreography and style).
Skaters must have passed at least Basic 4 and up to Free Skate 6 to register for this program.
(This program will not start till early 2020)
Adult 1-4
Fun, goal-oriented program for beginners, 15+ through adult. Skaters will receive Basic Skills instruction following Learn to Skate USA curriculum which is endorsed by U.S. Figure Skating and USA Hockey.
Pre-Free-Skate 6
This is when skaters learn more difficult elements. Pre-Free-Skate 6 is designed for figure skaters. Skaters will begin to learn jumps and spins. Must complete all 6 Basic Skills or all 4 Adult levels before signing up for Free skate levels.
